Facility Adds Jobs, Diversity and a Skilled Workforce
to Thompson’s Economy
(Thompson, Manitoba) The province is providing a $2.5 million Manitoba Industrial Program Opportunities (MIOP) loan to the Global Aerospace Centre for Icing and Environmental Research (GLACIER) to support capital upgrades to GLACIER’s aircraft engine testing and certification facility in Thompson, Premier Greg Selinger announced today.
“This world class facility, which specializes in cold weather engine testing, provides significant economic benefits to the local community, adding jobs, diversifying its industrial base and providing a new career vision for northern youth,” said Selinger. “Our government’s additional funding will help create enhanced capabilities, which in the future will enable the facility to perform advanced engine testing in all seasons.”
